TSD logistics has a fuel card that provides a real opportunity for RV owners that tow with a diesel truck.
Think of the EFS card as a debit card that you will use for diesel fuel or def purchases at their participating stations; such as Loves, Petro, Casey’s, RoadRanger, etc. This EFS card can only be used in the truck lanes. Ordinarily, but not always, you can do your transactions right at the pump without going into the store. Additionally if you are purchasing def fluid at the same time, it is only one transaction. However, there is no discount for def fluid.
The advantage to this card is that you are going to get a discount off the price at the pump for diesel, sometimes as much as $.25 per gallon.
TDS logistics has an App, called “Open Roads”. Once you have signed up for the card and it has arrived you can add that card to the App. Then the App will provide you with a fuel map that will show you the location of participating stations and the price per gallon in a mileage radius you choose. The radius can be anywhere from 50 to 250 miles.
In addition you will be able to view your transactions, including the discount you received.
So what does that mean in real life experience? Well on our trip to and back from Wisconsin I received a total discount of $77.60. That’s about one tank of Diesel fuel. On top of the savings, using the truck lanes has simplified our travel. It has also made purchasing def fluid easier as well.
Here’s just a few examples:
3.06 vs pump price of 3.29 at Loves
2.83 vs pump price of 2.96 at Casey’s
2.89 vs pump price of 3.06 at Loves
These are real savings and that’s after a 10% program fee applied against your savings. So if you save five dollars, the program fee is fifty cents. This is still a great bargain!
The App will also show you the lowest price in your radius and can give you directions to any fuel stop in that radius.
I would say everyone should take advantage of this card. I can’t imagine taking a trip without it.
