Well it’s day 3 and we are leaving the Linn Creek KOA for the Waterloo Iowa KOA. We left Linn Creek at 9:00 AM, and made two fuel stops along the way.

I have the EFS card which allows me to use the truck lane and pay at the pump. However for some reason at any ”Casey’s” fuel stop there has been an issue using the card. This card is really great as not only do you get the convenience of filling up safely and quickly but you get a discount on your diesel. I will blog about this card after the trip and tell you what the savings turned out to be.

We rolled into the Waterloo/Lost Island Water Park KOA at about 3:30 PM after about a six hour drive. Eva was really excited to be out of the truck but not nearly as excited as she is to be in it.

Our site at the Waterloo KOA

This is a resort KOA, and it is huge. The sites are nice and grassy with decent spacing between them. Our site was in the back 40 but super easy to get into and very level.

Water park in the distance

This is just a one night stay for us but it was very relaxing as we were able to open the windows and enjoy the 83 degree weather and strong breeze. We also were able to crack open a couple bottles of my home brewed Kolsch beer and chill.

Since this is a resort, it has a resort atmosphere so if you want secluded and really quiet camping, this won’t be for you. If you’re looking for a great family get away…book it; you won’t be disappointed.

That’s a Vintage Layton Dead Center.

There are so many campers here you are sure to spot a number of vintage Travel Trailers; like the Layton above. We were also passed on the highway by the exact make and model of our first Travel Trailer; a 1971 Jayco JayWren.

Tomorrow trip takes us into Wisconsin.
