The Dallas area is currently in a strange and very wet weather cycle. We are scheduled to leave for Florida in five days. For the last seven days there has been no stop to the rain. To make things worse; for the foreseeable future there is no stop to the rain. We have always had a problem with our yard and the way it was graded.
On the cusp of this weather we decided to flip the trailer around so that we wouldn’t need to drive through our back yard to hook up. Had we waited and hoped for dry weather this trip would most certainly have been cancelled. There is no way to back a truck through our backyard even after small amount of rain. The soil in Texas is made of clay. It has become so soft i cannot even walk on it without sinking. The earth can no longer absorb the rain that mother nature is sending. I miss the black dirt of Wisconsin.
As you can see from the picture above, the trailer is backed into its spot under the shop overhang. Meanwhile the lake in our backyard continues to grow. This ended up being a very smart move on our part.
Due to the horrible job our builder did on grading our yard; any measurable precipitation results in the “lake effect” situation above. Sadly, the water in the above picture is minor when compared to other flooding we have experienced.
Regardless of this, we are ready to roll because we paid attention to the what the weather might do and it paid off.
Stay tuned for some reports on the road and more from Orlando in the coming weeks. Stay Safe and Dry!
