Tammy and I spent the morning slowly getting ready to leave Fort Atkinson.  We were just 90 minutes away from our campground in Racine County.  therefore there is no reason to rush.  The trip northward was reaching its goal; but there would be plenty of travel ahead.

The girls are very smart.  They know when we are packing up to leave so doing it very slowly seems to lower their excitement level.  When we are at home, and they see me back the camper up; they know what’s happening and can’t contain their excitement.  This makes it very hard to pack the camper because they stand at the garage door making it hard to get in and out of the house.  It is much better when we are just leaving a campground; because they can just stay in the camper until we are ready to put the slides in.

We left our spot at the Fort Atkinson campground about 11:30 A.M. and made a quick stop at the dump station on the way out.   We weren’t worried about doing a thorough flush of our black tank, because we were going  to be using it again within a few hours.  The campground we would be staying at does not have full hook up so we would be employing the “poop wagon”, as Tammy refers to it, for the next few weeks.

Three weeks from now when we stay at our last campground we will flush all the tanks multiple times to make sure they are as clean as they can be….but for now ordinary dumping is just fine.

The temperatures climbed faster than I thought they would.  They would reach the mid nineties by the time we would get to our destination, which I believe was a record high for the area.  The trip to the campground with the exception of the heat, was uneventful.  Whatever noise was coming from the rear of my truck continued, but did not get any worse.  In addition, We are still averaging over ten miles per gallon on this trip, which I am extremely happy about.

We pulled into the campground a little after 1:30 P.M. and backed the travel trailer into our spot.  Next, we tied the girls out so they could relax while we cooled down the inside of the trailer.  Next we got our water, electric, and satellite dish hooked up.  Finding the correct location for the dish became an exercise in frustration.  We moved it about six times before it had an acceptable view of the southern sky.

This is a beautiful campground, and this spot is the best in the park.  This is why you reserve months in advance…you can’t just “luck” into a spot like this!

My daughter and grandson (Jennifer and Trent) arrived a few hours after we were set up.  So Trent and  I got some quality playground time in.  My Son Jeff arrived a few hours later.  We took my truck down the road so he could listen to the noise coming from the rear of the truck.  Jeff feels it is probably a wheel bearing, so we will see if he is correct on Tuesday morning.  That’s when my trusty Ram 1500 goes to the dealership.

For now it’s kickback and enjoy the camping, family time, and Packers football.
