This class action lawsuit is brought forward by Wietz and Luxenberg on behalf of Grand Design owners with frame flex issues. The class action lawsuit refers to specific defective Grand Design RV models sold between 2020 and 2023 including the Reflection, Influence, Solitude, and Momentum products.
Remember that in addition to this, that there is an active investigation going on right now with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the same issue.

There are many claims in the lawsuit, so I thought I’d break down the particulars. Remember these are the plaintiffs’ claims only, Grand Design and Winnebago have not had their day in court yet.
- The company knew the RVs were defective but marketed them aggressively anyway.
2) The Grand Design Warranties were largely worthless due to red tape restrictions making it difficult to get repairs. If you couldn’t tow your own unit to Grand Design in Indiana for repairs, it prevented you from being able to use the warranty.
3)The frame that was designed and installed on model years 2020-2023 Grand Design RVs were defective. They were not sufficiently capable of tolerating the weight and stress of typical RV use. This diminished the value of each RV it sold by at least tens of thousands of dollars. It often rendering the RVs unusable and and/or uninhabitable.”
4) The defendants did not fix the problem. They continued selling and didn’t issue a recall. In addition, they initiated a cover up. They didn’t protect their customers, instead prioritized profit.
5) The defendants participated in misleading, false, or deceptive acts that violated” state laws. “By systematically concealing the frame defect in Grand Design RVs, Defendants engaged in deceptive business practices.”
6) The defendants are liable for “consumer fraud and false advertising, product defects, and violation of consumer protection statutes.”
7) Defects in the RV include the specific frame defect and the defective processes used to build the RVs. The process “included cost-cutting, minimizing the importance of safety issues. The failure to follow acceptable manufacturing processes and to design RV frames that were fit for purpose.”
So, that is the summary of the Class Action Claims. I have read a longer legal document that goes into much more detail. However, this gives you an overview of what’s going on.
- It’s also interesting to note that the stock is down significantly in 2025.
- Winnebago Industries reduced its fiscal 2025 revenue forecast to $2.8 billion to $3.0 billion from a previous range of $2.9 billion to $3.2 billion.
In their recent earnings call it looks like they are attributing the reduction in earnings to folks buying lower cost RVs and the large decline of motorhome sales. There may be some truth to that, as the motorhome sales across the industry are down double digit. There was nothing in the earnings call about the class action lawsuit, which I think you would expect.
Can Grand Design and Winnebago somehow climb out of this mess that Grand Design created with their frame flex issues? Or has their reputation suffered so much that they won’t be able to recover? Let me know your thoughts.
Unfortunately for many owners, the nightmare continues. I hope everyone dealing with this nightmare can get their rigs and lives back on track soon.

The right rear spring hanger broke free from the frame on our 2021 Imagine 2910 BH while towing it on 6/31/25. The break went up into the I beam web and took out a 3″ chunk of the flange and bending the frame out about 1/2″ at the break. You can read the entire story here. https://www.mygrandrv.com/threads/2021-2910bh-broken-spring-hanger-and-bent-frame.1116675/
I tried to get in on the class action lawsuit but was told the Imagine model was not included. GD owners are SOL as I have read reports that some dealers are refusing to take GD units in on trade and if they do agree to take it, the trade in value is next to nothing. I hope the lawsuit crushes them.

Hey RW, I’m not sure that is correct. Please reach out to Pete West who runs the facebook page “Grand Design RV Major Issues”. Let me know what you find out after texting him. He is on top of all of it, and a great resource. I’m sorry to hear about your 2910BH. I went to an RV show in Dallas a few weeks ago and a GD Rep tried to talk to me and I told him “No way I would buy a unit from GD after all the stuff that has come to light”. His response was “I understand”. Doesn’t that just sum it up perfectly. Best of luck!

my grand design Image 2400 has already had 3 slide out arms replaced in it. Could this be because of a faulty frame? The first year we took it out for a week we found that the hot water tank didn’t work, i found a dealer and purchased a relay so i could use it with propane. at our next stop we had electricity, and it didn’t work using 110. The slide out arm near the bathroom made a horrible noise, water ran down the side of the camper when the awning was out but arms on the awning would not tilt to let water runoff. this was a ten day nightmare for our family only to find out repairs could not be made until winter. i October i took it to a dealer only to have them keep it for 9 months because they could not get warranty parts. since i got it back in July the following year we set it up for 3 days after i had had knee surgery to see if repairs had been made only to find out that it still had to go back to the shop.
first year 1 outing for 10 days, year 2, one setup, not repaired. year 3 in for inspection and repairs, they covered issues under warranty, but we found out not all repairs were done correctly. Year 4 this year got it out to get ready for camping season, black water tank problem from last year still was not properly taken care off, motor cover for awning was not put back on correctly and was not on camper when i tried to put awning out, since it got wet over winter it fried the motor. the cracked ladder they were told about last year that they taped the crack up on nit now is a charge.
they have known from day 1 that the refrigerator does not work properly of battery, so they put on and extra battery last year to fix the problem, battery’s go dead in 6 hours over night while on battery boon docking. now I’m told i need lithium batteries at my cost.
Camper is still at the shop waiting for my approval to order parts at my cost and ive lost all of year 4 camping season.
is this the kind of issues everyone may be having and what recourse should i take with Grand Design?

Hi Ron, Man I am so sorry to hear about all those problems. I would send an email to Grand Design listing everything that went wrong and what happened at the Dealership and the timing around all of it. Even though you are out of warranty they may do something for you. If you looked at my trilogy of terror 3-part series on my YouTube channel, you will see my nightmare as well. The long and short is that Grand Designs quality is pretty horrible, and it’s not just them. Most of these manufacturers are shoving them out the door as fast as possible with very little quality control. Taking my trailer back to GD for them to fix the roof under warranty was one of the biggest mistakes I ever made. Came out much worse than it went in. I hope things work out for you Ron, this is really unacceptable.

Need clarification – Does the RV Frame Flex/Failure Lawsuit include 2021 Grand Design 2400 Imagine?
June 12, 2025 at 12:44 pm
Yes, Don Clark said they’d cover frames back to 2020. All models.
