We stayed here at the Hickory Creek Campground in late September for the North Texas Campers and RVer’s Rally. This Rally is the invention of Jim Vititow, of United RV Center in Haltom City, Texas. Jim is the Director of Operations/Service Manager for United RV Center. He created the North Texas Campers and RVer’s Facebook page back in 2017. If you haven’t read my review on the United RV Center click here.

Jim Vititow asks folks “Raise your hand if this is your first NTCRV Rally” at the kickoff meeting.

Hickory Creek Campground was created by the Army Core of Engineers. I tried to find some historical information on this park but came up empty handed. However, what I can tell you about this park is that it is beautiful, and very quiet.

Hickory Creek Campground has 121 sites with water and electric hookups. The Park amenities include showers, a dump station, and boat ramp for those that want to enjoy Lake Lewisville. The lake stems from the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in northern Texas, and the park sits on the Hickory Creek Arm of Lewisville Lake. It is very very close to the northern suburbs of Dallas. In fact I believe that this was a short hour drive from our home.

If you enjoy hiking or biking you can use the 50 miles of natural surface and paved trails surrounding the lake. Which is exactly what Eva and I did each morning and afternoon.

This isn’t the first COE Park that we have visited but its the first we have stayed at and it is 100% better than the ones we have visited. The other nearby COE’s that we have visited are in really bad shape with many sites closed due to poor infrastructure. This park is completely different; everything is in very good condition here (electric and water connections look brand new). If you are looking for a nice quiet get away, this is the place to be. We would have stayed longer but we had reservations at the Sequoyah State Park in Oklahoma.

Very Early Morning at Hickory Creek.

Getting back to the NTCRV Rally all I can say is that it was a great time. We met some great people and enjoyed watching the activities, like the corn-hole tournament. There was also a great couple that fed the group with their homemade chicken stew – it was awesome. It was actually a little depressing when everyone left on Sunday. We stayed until Monday to avoid the dump station rush.

If you are looking for a great Facebook group I would encourage you to checkout the North Texas Campers and RVer’s Facebook Page. There are also impromptu get togethers within that group as well.
