We left the Double J campground at 9:00 AM, and headed to the Lebanon KOA. The drive was quite uneventful with probably the least amount of road construction we have encountered so far.
It was nice to roll into the campground at 1:30 so we could enjoy the balance of the day.
The Lebanon/Bennet Springs KOA has a lot to offer and it has really nice folks that own/manage it. They care about your camping experience and make sure the grounds are maintained, clean, and that rules are followed.
The site we were assigned was quite unlevel. Our site required 9” of lift in the front of the trailer to achieve level. We also needed one set of blocks under the tires on the drivers side of the trailer. These are gravel sites so they could easily remedy this issue. I just expect level sites at a Holiday KOA, primarily because you’re paying for a better campground.
They also say they have internet and yet it only came up as an available network once with a signal so weak that there was no internet. So given that cell service was spotty at best, this was another disappointment.
Our site probably had the least amount of grass in our row; which probably only matters if you have a dog. Eva didnt seem to care.
One big benefit to our site however was a clear view of the southern sky so I hooked up the Dish Satellite with no issue.
On the positive side, its very well maintained and there is plenty to do here. They have a small bike track for their three wheel trikes, a zip line, teather ball, gem mining and more. Thanks This would be a great place for a family with small children. If you are coming with a family I would splurge for one of the four deluxe pull through sites that has a cement patio; there are only four.
The campground filled up quickly but it was never loud. this campground is about 9 miles off interstate 44 so you are not going to hear interstate traffic.
All in all I have to say I expected a little better from a site and WIFI perspective; but the cleanliness and hospitality of the owners more than made up for that.
As I’ve always said, KOA’s are a mixed bag. This one is somwhere in the B to B+ for me. If our site was level (and many there are) and they had usable wifi, they would rate higher.
I can see they are doing quite a bit of work in the campground, like planting trees etc. In addition there is always an owner/employee out working in the campground. You dont see that very often. Would I stay here again? Yes, but in a deluxe pull through site.
